I was absolutely terrified to fly my drone abroad in Colombia but I slowly and carefully conquered that fear! I just wanted to share my personal experience and show a little of what it takes behind the scenes to create my videos. Hopefully these tips are helpful for other beginner drone travelers as well.
Tips For Flying A Drone in a Foreign Country:
1. Buy a local SIM card
2. Use a phone as a remote wifi hotspot
3. Update firmware while connected to wifi at a hotel or hostel
4. Charge everything the night before
5. Film early in the morning to avoid crowds
6. DO NOT FLY near airports or military bases
7. Wide open areas of nature are easier than crowded cities
I also wanted to show some behind the scenes footage of what it takes to use a drone and make my travel videos, which I hope inspires people to get out of their comfort zones and see the world!
